Demanding the best of yourself is an act of love.

Self-help approaches are designed with the aim of deepening self-awareness, helping cope with life in healthier ways, and improving emotional and mental health. Regardless of our preferred approach, it all comes down to improving our thought patterns-resting unto deep emotional traumas at times-and ultimately the relationship with our self. Our thoughts create emotional states that create behaviors. And like my father-and Aristotle before him-always told me, “we are the sum of our repeated actions”.

Bombarded by so much information on a daily basis, our decision-making muscle is under a lot of stress. Should I stay in that relationship with so many options out there? Or what about I go to therapy to address my avoidance patterns? I love my job, but do I have the kind of impact that I want to have in the world? What will the world look like five years from now with all the upcoming challenges? Which diet would be optimal for my specific body type? What should I do to better exploit my potential?

My best friend reminded me the other day, rightfully so, that regardless of the area of our choosing, getting better in our domain is a never-ending race. We might as well enjoy the ride before we…
